“Do you want this yarn?” The lady who ran the fiber arts group gestured at a shopping-bag-sized tangle of vintage wool. “We can't find anyone who will take it.”

It was the donated scrap pile of a highly skilled knitter, judging by the ornate color work samples inside. I couldn't let it go to waste…

So I spent a couple of hours untangling and re-rolling everything. And I ended up designing my very first shawl pattern… from scratch.

This project pushed me beyond what I thought I could accomplish, but I love how it turned out!
